Micky Yip


Micky is a general practitioner in both civil and criminal litigation. Since joining the Bar, he has given legal advice, drafted pleadings and attended hearings in the Lands Tribunal and the High Court. He has recently made an ex parte application for injunction from the Court of First Instance involving a board of directors dispute. In addition, he has a solid foundation in election petition applications, commercial disputes, legal aid appeals, tenancy disputes and cases involving the Building Management Ordinance.

In relation to his criminal practice, Micky has attended legal visits at police stations, the offices of the Immigration Department and the Securities and Futures Commission. In addition, he has considerable experience in attending ID Parades, making pleas in mitigation, bail applications and attending trial hearings in the Magistrates Courts.

Micky has recently attended various seminars and training in Mediation and Arbitration offered by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators. It is also his intention to expand his practice in the field of Mediation and Arbitration.

During his pupillage, he had extensive opportunities working in admiralty related litigations, including ship arrests and collision, and company related cases such as share capital reduction. In addition, he was involved in several commercial crime and SFC related cases.

Prior to joining the Bar, he worked as a laboratory technician studying the effects of genetic regulation on the development of vascular tissue in plants as well as cellular signaling patterns. He is up-to-date with the current gene cloning technology.
