About Holden
Holden is qualified as a Barrister in Hong Kong and as an Attorney in New York and the District of Columbia.
He regularly appears before the High Court, District Court, and Magistrates’ Courts. He has also represented clients before the Air Transport Licensing Authority and various tribunals, including the Torture Claims Appeal Board. With extensive experience in both civil and criminal law, his practice is centred on delivering clear, effective representation in both contentious and non-contentious matters, drawing on his extensive experience in litigation and procedural law.
In his civil practice, Holden has substantial experience in complex contract, company, and commercial disputes. He is frequently instructed to represent clients in both individual and multi-party litigation. He offers a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution while also delivering effective advocacy, drawing on his extensive experience in representing clients in contentious proceedings.
In his criminal practice, Holden provides effective representation across the full spectrum of criminal law, regularly appearing at all stages of criminal proceedings, including bail applications, trials, mitigations, and appeals. He also offers guidance and makes representations in plea negotiations. Over the years, Holden has defended hundreds of clients in a wide range of cases, from regulatory offences to complex criminal charges. His experience includes representing clients facing prosecutions by the Department of Justice, as well as other agencies such as the Labour Department, Buildings Department, ICAC, Customs and Excise, and the Immigration Department.
Holden also has substantial experience in U.S.-related legal matters, including immigration, business and commercial law, regulatory issues, and probate.
In addition to his legal practice, Holden is a part-time lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, where he teaches Trial Advocacy, Criminal Advocacy, and Criminal Procedure and Litigation on the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) programme.
Holden read law at Cornell University in New York, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the City University of Hong Kong.
