About Henry

Henry Chung was called to the bar in 2022 following successful completion of his pupillage with Mr John Reading SC, Mr Giles Surman, Mr Lawrence Cheung, Dr David Fong and Mr Joe Chan.

Henry is building a broad civil and matrimonial practice with an emphasis upon commercial and company litigation, probate and property law, defamation and matrimonial finance. On the criminal side, Henry has experience in both white-collar and organised crime.

Prior to joining the Bar, Henry obtained his MA Law degree at University of Law and PCLL at City University of Hong Kong (Dean’s List) after completing his BScs (Hons) Biology with Deans Award for Academic Excellence Scholarship at University of Bath.

  • ⁠HKSAR v. Leslie Swann - acting for a Project Director of Jacobs China Ltd charged with conspiracy to defraud and statutory fraud concerning false concrete compression tests for the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (the longest sea crossing and the longest open-sea fixed link in the world) (led by John Reading SC and Benson Tsoi (now Benson Tsoi SC) in both trial and the defence costs application)

Company

  • ⁠Cho Yuk Ping v. Young World Enterprises Limited & Anor - resisted a director’s application to inspect the company’s documents (as sole advocate)
  • ⁠Re Oasis Kindergarten Ltd (HCCW 128/2023) – acting for a company resisting a petition based on a judgment debt (with Justin Cheung) 

Personal injuries

  • ⁠Cheuk Fung Engineering Co Ltd v. Alam Zafar - application to vary costs order (with Lawrence Cheung)

Advisory

  • ⁠Advising a Texas-based marketing company regarding the enforcement measures of a US judgment debt against a HK-listed company incorporated in the Cayman Islands
  • ⁠Advising an international data analytics company regarding cross-jurisdictional gambling and the extraterritorial elements of the Gambling Ordinance, Cap. 148 (led by John Reading SC)
  • ⁠Advising an international technical professional services firm regarding questions of privilege and disclosure involving allegations of fraud (led by Benson Tsoi (now Benson Tsoi SC))
  • ⁠Advising a local construction and engineering company on questions involving the law of easement, abatement and the doctrine of frustration (as sole counsel)
